Paul Dubois (1829-1905), French sculptor, studied at the École de Beaux Arts in Paris, quickly became one of the most important sculptors of his time from 1865 and received many commissions for portraits and monuments. His equestrian statue of Joan of Arc, first presented in 1889, caused a sensation. ''Harlequin'', large bronze, dark brown patina, signed, masked harlequin standing on a stage-like plinth with a shouldered lute.
