The unlimited, vaguely appearing picture background is defined by the reflection of the boat and the mode as a lake or sea. The expected but missing horizon line blurs water and sky into a universal pictorial space that shimmers alternately golden-violet-green through the addition of metal oxides. Boat and passenger thus seem to thematize the lostness of being, removed from the world.
