Steiner, Heinrich. 1911 Kaiserslautern - 2009 Rome. Old homestead in the evening light. Oil/canvas, signed HSteiner on the lower right, titled on the verso of the canvas as well as on the stretcher label of the Galerie Koch Hannover with information about the painting, 60 x 70 cm, framed 81.5 x 90.5 cm.- Steiner attended the Altona School of Arts and Crafts, worked as a stage painter at the Theater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich and studied there at the Academy of Fine Arts under Karl Caspar. In 1938 he settled in Florence, where he joined the circle of German artists, including, among others, Eduard Bargheer and the Matisse student Rudolf Levy. The latter had a great influence on his work. In 1946 he received the foreigner prize ''Premio Colomba'' at the Venice Biennale.
