Portrait of a boy with toy dog and drum at the age of 5. 1869. oil/canvas, lower right monogr. a. dated MR 69, verso signed a. dated Maria Reinhard pinx. 1869 as well as inscribed with name and date of birth of the sitter, 82.5 x 55 cm, retouched, framed 96 x 67.5 cm.- Finely painted portrait, at his feet the open book ''Der Struwwelpeter''. The sitter, Eduard Mittweg, was born on November 20, 1864 in Neuwied as the son of the landowner of Ranzow Castle near Kleve. He lived in Bonn from 1894 and died there in 1915.
